A Little Knock In The Head...

Ruby is setting the table.

Ruby hears a whimpering by the buffet.

Ruby sees Gabriel hunched over.

Ruby starts laughing.

Gabriel: "Ruby it's not funny! (whimpering) I... hit... my... head..."

Ruby: "I know... I saw... (sarcastically) oh Gabriel, it'll be okay! I'm sorry!"

Gabriel: "Stoppit! It's not funny! (tries not to laugh)"

Ruby goes over to Gabriel.

Gabriel takes his arm down from his head.

Ruby sees a little red spot on his shirt.

Ruby wonders: "How did he get that red spot there to make me believe he's really hurt.

Ruby glances at his head, and a moment later rushes him into the bathroom.

"Daddy, daddy! Look at Gabriel!"

Daddy looks at Gabriel.

Daddy says: "Quick! Get the camera!"

Hence the below picture...

As Monk would say....

"Here's how it happened...."

The sound of piano music from the family room drifted into the kitchen.  Pianist Brooke Hopkins was right in the middle of his third piano lesson for the day.  The young student was playing a Sonatina by F. Kuhlau.   Gabriel was in the kitchen... picking at anything that was edible.  He then thought that he would steal into the music room to check something on dad's computer.  The piano music kept on drifting... and drifting... Gabriel took big strides towards the family room, closing the basement door to get by.  But as he was closing it, it bounced off of his foot (he had closed it so fast that it bounced off of his foot...) however, he had kept his upper body moving, and he door hit his head, and penetrated ALL THREE layers of skin, arousing the blood found there, which flowed angrily down his face.  Gabriel put his face in the crook of his elbow and whimpered.  Because Gabriel doesn't cry.  But he does whimper.

The End.

The Post With No Name

Hey y'all!

It's been awhile since I posted... Sorry 'bout that. At any events, I've found some things to post about....

On July fourth a lot of families met at the Clarkes to have a time of fellowship with each other. Even though the knights in shining armor decided that the damsels needed to be in distress, thereby "helping" them into the cold pond, the damsels were quite forgiving as they readily saw that the knights in shining armor were under-aged and yet in training. :D

Peter agreed to "bounce" the kids on the trampoline. Or, using his weight to bounce them with force high into the air...

This picture was the best yet of the activity... Click on it to see Rachel's expression. :D

Daddy and Mommy found this little baby bunny on a walk. Actually, they were on a walk and Asher the dog "found" it, and they rescued it from his jaws.... It was a cute little thing, although awfully shaken up. She liked sleeping in the pocket of my hoodie, though. The Connor family took her home to care for her. As for as I know she's still alive, and named Miss BunBun. :)

Well... What can I say! Chloe and I were terribly hungry late one night... And would you imagine it? The only thing to eat was ice cream. Unfortunately, the ice cream was unopened.... Problem easily solved: open the ice cream. We at it not be taking scoops, but by shaving off thin layers. Then we carved on the surface: "Chloe and Ruby were here" so that Gabriel, the ice cream police, would not have to go searching through the house finding the culprits. :D

Girls an' Guns....

Isn't that just lovely?

But guys an' Guns...

Quite a different matter. :D

This was when we went to the Clarkes for Peter's 20th birthday. We took a friend, Luke Nuebecker, with us. Of course that was about one and a half years ago, but still, it was so much fun and worth posting about. 'Sides, I am unable to post new pictures because our camera is unfortunately broken. :P oh well! Praise the Lord! :D

An Interesting Sequence

The chivalrous gentlemen.

Peter complacently stands by ready to attack, and Duncan stands defiantly unaware, it seems, that his last minutes on earth are inevitable. :P

But now Duncan has finally put a look of painful surprise on his face as the sword plunges, and Peter, still with little effort, still stands complacently.

"Don't you know, you fool, you never can win!"

Unfortunately we didn't get enough pictures! There should have been one of Duncan on the floor, but it was so spontaneous that we didn't plan far enough. :P These were actually taken in August of 2007, and the costumes were made for the Jamestown 400. And yes, Chloe did make them all. :D

Quote of the Day....

Gabriel, "Peter, do you know what I did? I went upstairs with a big black garbage back and said, 'Ruby, can you please get in here? Mommy told me to take the trash out.'"

Peter, "Gabriel, sometimes it's best not to tell the truth...."

I love my brothers!

Praise the Lord!

The whole story started like this.... A year and a half ago I started writing Travels to Inverness, which is supposed to be a 400 paged novel. (Something like that.) A very good friend gave me a laptop last October, and I was so happy that I had it, because I needed something to write on other than the computer that everyone else needed to use. Lately the laptop has started shutting down on me right in the middle of writing, and the screen clouds over and stuff like that. Also it isn't connected to the internet, which I need because I have a lot of research to do, especially since I recently decided to put a war in my book.

Well, obviously I can't afford the expensive laptop that I need, and I don't really want to use the one I have now for fear of its shutting down and never starting up again, and then my whole book will be lost, as I don't have it anywhere else. Daddy and Mommy decided that until God provides a new Macbook laptop, I should write on a different computer and make do with what I have. Since I didn't have an Ethernet hookup, or a flashdrive, I had to type the whole thing out. I started doing this and I was so happy because I can edit as I go along, and in the first four pages I added several things, changed several things, and really made drastic changes.

Well.....

Later that night, Gabriel was cleaning out the hard drive on the computer, and it broke. Every single bit of information was completely lost, and gone. The computer couldn't restart, or do anything. It was completely broken. Of course I was upset. I was furious. I was too upset to cry. I couldn't remember any of the changes I made, my school papers that I had studied so hard for on John Smith, Christopher Columbus, and others, and four pages worth of notes on the Reformation and the Renaissance were all deleted. Plus a few poems which I hadn't copied yet, and I couldn't remember. I was too frustrated and mad and upset to even think about trying to make every possible change that was necessary, though it was different from the previous ones I made. I was really wondering what God was trying to show me. This whole incident completely ruined my entire day, and I got really tired and stressed out, had to go to bed early, and couldn't sleep.

The next day was better. I made a few changes, and daddy said the computer could be fixed, although Gabriel called the Apple store and they said we would have to get a new part which would cost 300 dollars. That was not an option. I didn't work on my book for a few days. I became happier, especially since a lot of people said that it could be fixed, though it wasn't easy at all. And then....

Today Gabriel decided to work on the computer. And he fixed it! He got all the information back, and the computer works great now, without any new parts or anything! Praise God! I can't tell you people how happy I was. Chloe had gently tried to tell me that I "shouldn't get all worried about it" the day the computer broke. I yelled, "If you were a writer then YOU would be worried!" :P But I see now that there was no cause for saying that, or being worried at all. I see that it was all a lesson in trust and faith in God. And praise God that I have all my information and poetry and papers back!!!!!

Extremely Excited,

~Ruby

A Fun Parody

Chloe and Duncan made up this parody a few months ago... I thought it was rather clever, hence my posting it...

The original song was Johnny Cash's Cry Cry Cry, which doesn't necessarily have the best lyrics... But just so you know, the first verse and chorus (to the original) goes like this...

Everybody knows where you go when the sun goes down
I think you only live to see the lights of town
I wasted my time when I would try try try
'Cos when the lights have lost their glow you'll cry cry cry.

(Next Verse)

You're gonna cry cry cry and you'll cry alone
When everyone's forgotten and you're left on your own
You're gonna cry, cry, cry.

Here's the parody...

I think we all agree that feasting 's lots of fun
But it seems we only live to get the dishes done
For every pan that mama uses to fry fry fry
I scrub it clean and then he wipes it dry dry dry.

We're gonna dry dry dry
And we'll dry some more
Until the counter sparkles and there's nuttin on the floor
We're gonna dry, dry, dry....

Clever?

Mistakes

This was supposed to be a picture. The look at Duncan was supposed to mean, "Where's the flash?" Oh, and that's Chloe's hand at the end. :)

Possibly The Cutest Picture....

We were both supposed to be looking at the camera and smiling.... :) Duncan and me.
